Ribbon

Somewhere in a city

Black buildings separate and surround us

Somewhere I imagine you

We display sinking ocean eyes

Somewhere in a city

A crowds drowning smile

Somewhere I imagine you

Black trees cut the passing mist

Somewhere in a city

We stay in silence

Somewhere I imagine you

unforgiven, oblivious and unresolved

Somewhere in a city

Dark black buildings entrapping

Somewhere I imagine you

without wings we wait for amber days

Somewhere in a city

ever upwards, this steady fixed gaze

And somewhere I imagine you....

somewhere in the sky

For me this poem conjures up scenes from Wim Wender's "Wings of Desire".

Thank you so much as always for having a look at the posts!!!

you know.. that may have been a direct influence!!!
that one image of the man standing on the edge of the building and lookinf down...do you know the one?
This one was written about 11 years ago when I was studying at Montserrat and working at the local video rental shop. I played that movie so much on my shifts that some of the guys I worked with hid it!!!!

that was Peter Falk's best role ever.

the remake was a fair load of shite though...

Yes, I know that "iconic" image. I agree, that was Falk at his best. And you're right, the remake was a train-wreck of a film--turned a piece of art into sentimental twaddle!

Your poem has inspired me to watch the original again. I've watched it a half-dozen times, but it's been ages since I last saw it. I should have a film-showing at my place each month--got one of those big projector things--could be interesting...

that would be a sight to see!!!
I wonder if there are any "art house" kind of video rental shops around where you could find that flick anywhere? GEO certainly seems to be lacking in that department..
that place is more of a "movie" rental shoppe as opposed to a place one might rent "films"

here's a quick list of movies I have never been able to find.
